So it’s official, Magic The Gathering Arena will go Open Beta on September, 27. And this will be a long process: September 24 all servers will be down for maintenance, and after three days of no-MTGA mode there will be re-launch. All game progress will be wiped, and gems will be returned. So it’s a fresh start for every Closed Beta participant. And there’s something to worry about: Wizards are not going to launch open beta in all regions. So it’s possible that after the launch you will find out that your locale is not supported. Lets go into the details (information below is reprint of MTGA official source).
- On September 21, purchases in the store will be temporarily disabled. Even so, you will still be able to spend gold and gems on envelopes and events during that period.
- On September 24, the MTG Arena servers will be disconnected for extended maintenance while we restart the players’ accounts and improve the systems. Users will not be able to access the game during that period. The services will be enabled again on September 27 along with the open beta and all the changes detailed in this article.
- With the arrival of the open beta, players must update their MTG Arena accounts by creating new Wizards accounts to play. To start the process, you will only have to log in with your current email address and password. We will guide you during the update of the account, which will include the option to change your username.
- The players’ accounts will be restarted with the step to open beta. Note that, as previously indicated, the gems purchased during the closed beta will be reimbursed in the form of gems for your open beta account after the restart. The gems and welcome bundles purchased will be reimbursed in the accounts, in addition to any rewards for the codes previously exchanged.
- On September 26, more than 300 Twitch streamers will play in advance to the Guilds of Ravnica at MTG Arena . Join your favorite Magic streamer to see the game in action ahead of time.
- On September 27 at 10 p.m., the open beta will arrive at the hands of the players; however, keep in mind that MTG Arena will not be available in all regions. From that moment you can play Guilds of Ravnica and enjoy a new battlefield with Ravnica theme, all new cards and brand new animations and effects with which to show pride in your guild.
- A selection of physical products from Guilds of Ravnica will contain codes exchangeable for objects for MTG Arena . These codes will not be available in all regions.
INFORMATION FOR CLOSED BETA PLAYERS AND ACCOUNT RESET
All players who participated in the closed beta will receive a copy of three letters of Guilds of Ravnica: Mythic Edition : Teferi, hero of Dominaria, Ral, Viceroy Izzet, and Vraska, queen of the Golgari.
When you log in to the game for the first time, you will be asked to update your account to a Wizards account in order to play. At that time you will have the option to change your username and you will be asked to update your password. From there, we will guide you during the update process.
Secondly, a full account reset will be carried out for all participants of the closed beta. This means that players will be left without all the cards, jokers, gold and envelopes in their account, in addition to their rank, progress in missions and deck lists. Everyone will start with the same initial collection and will have to expand it thereafter.
After the reboot, we will reimburse in your updated account the gems acquired during the closed beta, along with some additional items.
This is what will be refunded to your account after the restart:
- The purchased gems will be reimbursed in the form of gems
- Welcome bundles will be refunded
- If you participated in the New Zealand proprietary code test for New Zealand, we will reimburse a Dominaria envelope in your account. (Other rewards for codes will not be refunded).
Keep in mind that this is the only planned account reset from here to the full launch of the game. If you participate in the open beta, we do not plan to restart your account when the game is released permanently (except in case of unforeseen circumstances).
In addition, we will organize a special Singleton Built event from September 27 until October 1 to celebrate the start of the open beta. Participating in this event will not cost gold or gems (invite the house!), But you must have a built deck. Start tuning your lists for Singleton and join the fun on September 27!
